Farnesol and Mevalonate Accumulation in
Strains with Amplified Isoprenoid Pathway
Over-expression of deregulated HMG CoA reductase also led to the detectable accumulation of mevalonate in the culture medium. Amplifying genes coding for acetoacetyl CoA thiolase and HMG CoA synthase in strains with elevated HMG CoA reductase acitivity led to a dramatic increase in mevalonate accumulation, without a significant change in farnesol accumulation.
